o Sony Reports 50 Million PlayStation 2 Consoles Shipped to Date

Tokyo -- Sony Computer Entertainment announced on Thursday that total
worldwide shipments of its PlayStation 2 video game console have topped 50
million units. Of these, 12.5 million went to Japanese retailers, while
21.5 million shipped to North America and 16 million went to Europe. These
numbers dwarf sales of both Nintendo's GameCube and Microsoft's Xbox,
although the PlayStation 2 has been on the market a year longer.
Additionally, Sony said that 300 million games for PlayStation 2 have
shipped to date, with a roster of 1,500 titles now available.

o Yahoo Posts 51% Revenue Increase, $46.2 Million Income

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Marking a vastly improved fourth quarter, Web portal
Yahoo on Wednesday reported a 51 percent increase in revenue and a net
income of $46.2 million, compared to a loss of $8.7 million a year ago.
The company posted substantial revenue gains in its marketing services,
listings, and transaction operations. Yahoo said that it expects revenue
in 2003 to total between $1.1 billion and $1.2 billion, with earnings
before taxes, interest and depreciation of between $295 million and $330

o Report: U.S. Broadband Use Rises 59%, While Narrowband Falls 10% in 2002

New York -- The number of U.S. broadband users increased 59 percent in
2002, while dial-up (narrowband) connections declined 10 percent,
according to a report released by New York-based audience measurement firm
Nielsen NetRatings. In December 2002, 33.6 million U.S. users went online
using a broadband connection, versus 74.4 million who used a dial-up
connection. The report also found that broadband users spent more time
online, conducted more online visits and viewed more pages than narrowband
Web surfers. "2002 marked an entire year of decline for narrowband usage
at home," said Nielsen//NetRatings senior Internet analyst Greg Bloom. "As
the broadband infrastructure continues to expand across the U.S., we
expect to see the mainstream online population convert to higher speeds."

o Interactive TV Firm Liberate Technologies to be Delisted from Nasdaq

San Carlos, Calif. -- Liberate Technologies, a provider of interactive TV
software and services, announced on Thursday that its shares will be
delisted from the Nasdaq National Market, effective tomorrow. The company
is not in compliance with the Nasdaq's timely periodic reporting
requirements for continued listing, as a result of its internal accounting
investigation and subsequent announcement that it would delay its annual
report so that it could re-state its earnings. San Carlos, Calif.-based
Liberate also said its shares may not trade on the OTC Bulletin Board as
long as it is still delinquent in filing the reports. "Liberate's Audit
Committee continues to work diligently with its outside advisors and
Liberate management in order to conclude its review of accounting matters
and permit Liberate to file updated financial statements," the company
said in a statement.

o Report: Online Gaming More Popular Than Shopping In Asia-Pacific Region

Framingham, Mass. -- In Asia-Pacific countries, more people are going
online to play games than to shop, according to a report released by
market research firm IDC Research. A survey of 3,600 Internet users across
China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore found that over the
past year, the number of online gamers has eclipsed the number of online
shoppers in each country. In China, 43 percent of those online play games,
compared to only 16 percent who said they shop. "It is a remarkable
milestone to have the number of online gamers surpassing online buyers in
several countries within one year," said IDC analyst Chin Jun Fwu.
