o Nintendo Revises Earnings Estimate Downwards, Citing Weak GameCube Sales

Tokyo -- Japanese video games firm Nintendo said on Monday that sales of
its GameCube console reached only 5.6 million for its fiscal year ended
March 31, missing its goal of 10 million and helping to bring down the
company's earnings forecast for the year, the Associated Press reported.
The company now expects to report earnings of about $547 million for the
year, as opposed to its earlier projection of about $663 million.
Kyoto-based Nintendo's GameCube is currently the third-place contender in
the video game console race behind Sony's PlayStation 2 and Microsoft's
Xbox, but is the dominant producer of handheld gaming systems with its
Game Boy Advance product line.

o Yahoo Unveils Redesigned Search Engine Features

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Web services provider Yahoo on Monday announced the
launch of a redesigned search area, Yahoo Search, that will figure more
prominently on the Web portal as it tries to become less dependent on
third-party search providers. The redesign features a cleaner,
less-cluttered look and increased focus on paid listings. Although
Google's technology powers the new Yahoo Search, the company said it is
working to incorporate search technology acquired through its purchase of
Inktomi. "The new Yahoo Search marks the next step in building an
innovative and integrated search platform that leverages the most
relevant, comprehensive content from across the Web and innovative search
solutions using leading search technology and content on Yahoo," said Dan
Rosensweig, chief operating officer of Yahoo Search and Marketplace.

o Overture to Distribute Paid Listings on Pop-Ups Delivered by Gator

Pasadena, Calif. -- Overture Services, a provider of pay-for-performance
search listings, has signed a three-year agreement with Gator, a provider
of online advertising services where pop-up ads for rival companies are
served to visitors with the software installed while they are browsing.
Under the deal, Overture's pay-for-performance search listings will now
appear on the ads served by Search Scout, a new service offered by Gator
that serves pop-under ads to users visiting search engines. Redwood City,
Calif.-based Gator's controversial ad technology has drawn lawsuits from
major publishers, who argued that serving ads for competitors' sites to
users visiting their own sites unfairly steals advertising revenue.

o Bankrupt Sonicblue Sells GoVideo Unit to Opta Systems

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Bankrupt consumer electronics firm Sonicblue
announced on Monday that Opta Systems, an investment and development
company, was the successful bidder for its GoVideo business unit.
Previously, Santa Clara, Calif.-based Sonicblue said it had signed an
agreement to sell GoVideo, which produces such products as a dual-deck VCR
and DVD/VCR combinations, to Opta for $12.5 million. Last week, Sonicblue
said a deal to sell its ReplayTV and Rio business units to a holding
company operated by Japanese electronics firms Denon and Marantz had
fallen though. Those units will be sold in two separate auctions on April
15.

o Dolby Laboratories to Acquire Image Processing Tech Firm DemoGraFX

San Francisco -- Digital audio developer Dolby Laboratories announced on
Monday that it will acquire the assets of DemoGraFX, a developer of
specialized digital video signal processing and image coding technology.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The DemoGraFX
technology development team will begin operating out of Dolby's Burbank
facility, where it will focus on the development of specialized image
processing technology that delivers visually superior imagery in a wide
range of industry standard digital video entertainment formats. "Dolby's
strategy is to deliver key signal processing solutions for entertainment
applications," said Dolby Laboratories president Bill Jasper. "The
DemoGraFX asset purchase is a perfect fit as we expand our technology,
product and service businesses with very high quality image processing
solutions that target important markets in entertainment."

o Music Choice Lets Digital TV Viewers Create Custom Music Channels

Horsham, Pa. -- Music Choice, a provider of digital audio programming
channels to cable and satellite TV providers, announced on Monday a new
service that will let digital TV viewers create their own custom music
channels. The service will be powered by, and be available on
Massachusetts-based SeaChange's video-on-demand platform. By scrolling
through a few television screens that prompt them to pick music genres and
sub-genres, viewers will be able to build music channels that include up
