o Aimster to Appeal Loss of Aimster.com Address to AOL

New York -- File-sharing service Aimster, which was recently ordered by an
arbitration panel to turn over its Aimster.com domain name to America
Online, said it intends to appeal the ruling, The Register reported
Wednesday. The National Arbitration Forum ruled 2-1 that the company was
infringing on AOL's trademark with the name "Aimster" because it could be
too easily confused with AOL's Instant Messenger ("A-I-M," for short)
service. "I'm going to appeal this decision. It's prejudiced and causes us
irreparable damage," Aimster CEO Johnny Deep told The Register. Deep
reportedly has until June 1st to file an appeal in a Virginia court.

o Online VCR Software Provider RecordTV Selling Assets

Los Angeles -- RecordTV, a website that let users record network TV and
basic cable shows to their computers, announced that it is selling off all
of its assets. The company stopped offering its software after being sued
by television networks and other entertainment firms for enabling
copyright infringement. RecordTV settled the suits and avoided paying the
high damage awards facing companies like MP3.com and Napster for online
copyright infringement. Los Angeles-based RecordTV has appointed Y&M
Partners to handle the asset sale; the firm has asked for interested
parties to notify them by May 31. Bidding will take place from June 1
though June 25, and Y&M will notify the three highest bidders on May 26.
