o Terra Lycos Launches Listen.com Music Service; Rhapsody Adds Zomba, TVT

Waltham, Mass. -- Global Internet network Terra Lycos announced on Tuesday
that it has launched a digital music subscription service in conjunction
with San Francisco-based Listen.com. The Lycos Rhapsody service will offer
on-demand streaming of 135,000 songs from artists on four major record
labels -- BMG, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Recorded Music and Warner
Music Group. A free version of the service will offer 20 stations with
FM-quality sound; the premium service offers unlimited on-demand streaming
in CD-quality for $9.95 per month. Separately, Listen.com announced on
Tuesday that it has signed licensing agreements with Zomba Recording Corp.

o Report: Digital Radio Receiver Shipments to Reach 33 Million by 2007

Oyster Bay, N.Y. -- Despite competing technologies from two
satellite-delivered firms and the nascent terrestrial digital radio
market, yearly shipments of digital radio receivers are expected to rise
from 650,000 in 2002 to over 33 million in 2007, according to a report
released on Tuesday by New York-based research firm Allied Business
Intelligence. Both XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio have
launched competing nationwide satellite-delivered digital radio services,
while Maryland-based IBiquity Digital has developed technology that will
be used by broadcasters to deliver digital audio and wireless data
alongside their existing analog signals. "XM, Sirius, and IBiquity have
created their own proprietary chipset specifications, with any hopes for
standardization still several years away," said ABI analyst Frank Viquez.
"In the interim, major chipmakers will need to cater to these various U.S.
digital audio standards in addition to global standards such as DAB
(Digital Audio Broadcasting), and DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale). This
promises to keep silicon costs high until significant mass production
levels are reached."
