o Webcasting Royalty Rate Ruling Leaves Both Sides Unhappy

Washington -- Yesterday's announcement from the Librarian of Congress that
set the rates webcasters must pay to stream music online drew criticism
from both the recording industry, which called the rate too low, and
webcasters, some of whom said that the new lowered rate is still too high
for them to stay on the air. "The rate. simply does not reflect the fair
market value of the music as promised by the law. This decision will
certainly reinforce the steadfast opposition of copyright owners to
compulsory licensing," said Recording Industry of America president Cary
Sherman. "Today's decision by the Librarian of Congress, which disregarded
voluminous economic and business evidence supporting a significantly
higher rate, means that once again artists and record companies will not
receive fair value for their labors," said John Simson, executive director
of SoundExchange, a recording industry licensing body. "This decision
drives Beethoven.com and almost all ... small commercial Webcasters out of
business," Beethoven.com's Kevin Shively told The Los Angeles Times. "What
has been adopted by the Librarian of Congress will. put thousands of small
webcasters out of business. The Internet will then be dominated by the
large media companies who can afford to pay these fees and wait," read a
statement on SomaFM.com, a small webcaster. Both the recording industry
and webcasters may now choose to appeal the Librarian of Congress' rate
determination in court.

o Jupiter Research, Events Businesses Sold to INT Media for $250,000

New York -- Jupiter Media Metrix announced on Friday that it has signed a
definitive agreement to sell its Jupiter Research and Events businesses to
INT Media Group, which runs the Internet.com family of news websites, for
$250,000. The transaction is expected to close in July. About 95 Jupiter
employees are expected to transition to INT Media, where the Jupiter brand
name will be kept intact and the business will become a division within
INT. New York-based Jupiter said early in the year that it would have to
sell off business units in order to continue operations; in recent months,
the company sold its European contracts and AdRelevance unit to rival
NetRatings for $10.5 million, as well as its Media Metrix audience
measurement service to ComScore Networks for $1.5 million. "INT Media
Group provides the ideal platform for the Jupiter Research and Events
businesses to flourish," said Jupiter CEO Robert Becker. "The combined
company's renowned brands, products, content, intellectual capital and
resources ensure that Jupiter clients will continue to benefit from
Jupiter's world-class, innovative analysis, insight and advice."

The survey found that 42 percent of Brits said they would probably never
use 3G services on their cell phones. On the bright side, the survey found
