o Yahoo, Sony Announce Multi-Faceted Partnership

Santa Clara, Calif. -- Yahoo and Sony Corp. of America on Tuesday
announced a partnership that includes the development of a co-branded
website, e-commerce initiatives, advisory services and content integration
and promotion. The co-branded site -- Sony on Yahoo! -- will feature
Sony's consumer electronics products. The site will become the default
start page for Sony's recently launched Internet access service, and will
also be given priority space -- along with other Sony and Yahoo services
-- on the desktops of Sony's VAIO computers. Yahoo will consult Sony on
the development of a Web portal that connects its various offerings in
games, computers and home electronics. Finally, the two companies will
collaborate on marketing campaigns for Sony Pictures films and Sony Music
content across Yahoo's Web properties.

o DirecTV Sells Part of Stake in Thomson Multimedia for $130 Million

El Segundo, Calif. -- Digital satellite TV firm DirecTV Enterprises said
on Tuesday that it has sold 4.1 million of its shares in consumer
electronics firm Thomson multimedia for $130 million. El Segundo-based
DirecTV said it has no immediate intention to sell any of its remaining
8.8 million shares of Thomson, which equate to 3.1 percent of the company.
The company will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes.
Paris-based Thomson multimedia makes set-top boxes that are marketed to
DirecTV's satellite TV customers.

o Universal Music Canada Invests in Streaming Firm Iceberg Media

Toronto -- Universal Music Canada, a division of Vivendi Universal,
announced on Tuesday that it has agreed to make an undisclosed equity
investment in Iceberg Media, a provider of streaming services, and will
license its songs to streaming music site TheIceberg.com. Toronto-based
Iceberg Media will create custom Web radio channels for Universal Music
Canada's website. Universal said it will provide marketing support for
Iceberg's own streaming audio channels.

o Game Developer Acclaim Entertainment Raises $33.6 Million

Glen Cove, N.Y. -- Acclaim Entertainment, a developer and publisher of
interactive games, announced on Tuesday that it has completed a private
placement of 9.3 million of its shares to a small group of private
institutional investors, with total proceeds equaling $33.6 million. New
York-based Acclaim is developing games for the soon to be released
Microsoft and Nintendo consoles, as well as for Sony's PlayStation 2 and
the PC. The company will use the funds for ongoing game development,
strategic acquisitions, marketing and advertising campaigns during the
holiday season, and also for debt reduction.

o 3-D TV Developer DDD Raises $3.2 Million

Toronto -- DDD, a developer of 3-D TV technology that does not require the
use of 3-D glasses, said on Tuesday that it has raised $3.2 million
through a private equity placement. Elliott Associates led the investment
and remains the company's largest shareholder. Toronto-based DDD's
technology adds features to digitally encoded content that creates 3-D
images when viewed on glasses-free 3-D displays.

o Video Games Firm Activision to Offer 5 Million Shares

Santa Monica, Calif. -- Activision, a developer, publisher and distributor
of interactive games, announced on Tuesday that it will make a public
offering of 5 million shares of its stock. Santa Monica-based Activision
said it plans to use the proceeds from the offering for general corporate
purposes, including additions to working capital, product development,
joint ventures and strategic acquisitions.

o Digital Asset Management Firm EMotion Sells Stock Footage Business

Vienna,Va. -- EMotion, a provider of digital asset management software,
said on Tuesday that it has sold PictureQuest, its online stock footage
images business, to Illinois-based Creatas. Financial terms of the
transaction were not disclosed. Creatas will take on an undisclosed number
of PictureQuest's sales and content personnel, and Virginia-based EMotion
will continue to host the PictureQuest.com site. EMotion said the sale was
motivated by its long-term strategy to focus on its software business.

(Redwood City, Calif.) Game developer Electronic Arts announced on Tuesday
the release of its anticipated online game "Majestic," a suspense thriller
that interacts with players via email, instant messaging, voicemail, fax
and the Internet. The game's first "season" will be free, with additional
monthly updates available with an EA.com subscription, which costs $9.99
per month. Majestic was given a "mature" rating by the ESRB (Entertainment
Software Rating Board), meaning that only those 18 and older will be able
to play the game.

(San Francisco) Lucasfilm Ltd., the George Lucas-run company responsible
for creating the Star Wars movies, has sued medical instruments-maker
Minrad over the use of the term "light saber" to describe several of its
products, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday. Lucasfilm says it
objects to the use of the term used to describe the Jedi weapon in the
Star Wars films because "any deficiencies or faults in the quality of the
surgical instruments [are] likely to hurt the reputation of Lucasfilm."

(Irvine, Calif.) Digital video entertainment firm Cameo Technologies said
on Tuesday that Universal Pictures will use its proprietary media player
to offer high-quality movie trailers to consumers' PCs. Irvine-based
Cameo's technology delivers the trailers to PCs using excess bandwidth, a
method the company claims can offer pictures at 30 frames per second at a
data rate of over 1MB per second, regardless of the user's connection
speed. Irvine-based Cameo Technologies is a unit of hard drive-maker
Western Digital.

Warner's Turner Broadcasting Systems, said on Tuesday that animation firm
SportsBlast will produce a weekly three-minute animated Web series for
NASCAR.com. "The Kellys" is a dramedy that explores the world of stock car
racing, drivers, pit crews, sponsors and fans through the lives of the
Kelly family. SportsBlast was founded by voice-actor Nancy Cartwright, who
plays the voice of Bart Simpson on Fox's "The Simpsons."

24-hour programming from E! Entertainment Television and E! Online on its
satellite-delivered digital radio service. Content will be culled from E!

New York-based Sirius' $12.95 per month service will be available later
this year.

(London) BBC News Online is currently running a feature story on the 40th
birthday of the video game. The first video game -- called Spacewar! --
was developed on two early computers created at MIT by a group of
programmers that included MIT students. Spacewar! was written for a
30-line display screen on a computer that offered a measly 9KB of memory.
