o America Online Picks Jon Miller as New CEO

Dulles, Va. -- AOL Time Warner on Tuesday named Jon Miller, a former top
executive at USA Interactive, as the new head of Virginia-based America
Online. Miller, who left USA Interactive for an e-commerce start-up in
June, will replace interim CEO Robert Pittman, who left the company last
month. Pittman resigned under pressure, just months after he was
dispatched by the parent company to help turn around its struggling
Internet unit. America Online has been plagued of late by slower
subscriber growth and a downturn in the online advertising industry.

o Yahoo Buys 15% Stake in Finnish Wireless Portal Sonera Zed

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Yahoo announced on Tuesday that it has acquired a 15
percent stake in Sonera Zed, a Finland-based wireless portal operator.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The agreement gives Yahoo
the opportunity to acquire 100 percent of the company over the next two
years. The two companies have also entered into a commercial agreement to
deliver co-branded mobile services like ringtones, picture messages, Yahoo
Messenger and Yahoo Mail to European wireless subscribers. "We believe
that there are tremendous growth opportunities in consumer pay mobile
value added services in Europe and our objective, working co-operatively
with key mobile operators, is to become a significant player in this
area," said Yahoo Europe managing director Mark Opzoomer.

o Canadian Booksellers File Motion in Protest of Amazon.ca Expansion

Toronto -- The Canadian Booksellers Association, along with retailer
Indigo Books & Music, have filed an application for judicial review in
Canadian Federal Court that would declare online retailer Amazon.com
subject to laws governing non-Canadian companies operating there and the
country's book policy. The Department of Canadian Heritage ruled in July
that the Amazon.ca operations -- instituted to save the company money on
shipping costs -- are not subject to the Investment Canada Act and the
Government's Book Policy. Seattle-based Amazon.com partnered with a unit
of Canada Post, the Canadian postal service, to fulfill a requirement that
non-Canadian companies work with Canadian firms when operating in the
country. "It is incredible that our Government could take the position
that a business of the scale and scope of Amazon.ca in Canada. would not
be subject to the Investment Canada Act and the Book Policy," said
Canadian Booksellers Association president Todd Anderson. "Our members,
including hundreds of small and medium-sized urban and rural retail
bookstores, are being denied the intent that the Act and Book Policy were
intended to provide."

financing. Paralink Asset Management led the investment round. Redwood
City, Calif.-based Zona said the investment will be used to accelerate the
development of its worldwide sales organizations, with the opening of

"Lineage" massively multiplayer game title, to provide network support for
Gamania's next online multiplayer title.

Milpitas, Calif. -- NetRatings, a provider of Internet audience

interest in French competitor NetValue, for $17.7 million. Milpitas,
Calif.-based NetRatings said that NetValue's services will be integrated

AOL, Amazon, Terra Networks, Deutsche Telecom and the BBC. "Having
