o Streaming 3-D Developer RealityWave Raises $1.1 Million

Cambridge, Mass. - RealityWave, a developer of streaming 3-D technology
for the visualization of complex data, has raised $1.1 million through the
issuance of convertible debt to Echelon Ventures. The company's software
enables design teams to share large sets of data -- such as 3D models --
over any network connection. Massachusetts-based RealityWave's clients
include Autodesk, Tecnomatix, Bentley Systems, Centric Software and
Hitachi-Zosen. RealityWave will use the funds for further expansion into
the areas of design, manufacturing and construction collaboration.

o Digital Asset Management Firm Sunhawk Acquires A.N.N., Changes Name

Agoura Hills, Calif. -- Sunhawk.com Corporation, a provider of digital
asset management, online publishing and copyright protection technology,
announced on Tuesday that it has completed the acquisition of A.N.N.
Automation, a provider of digital media management services. Agoura
Hills-based Sunhawk.com also said its shareholders have approved its
proposal to change the company's name to Stardrive Solutions. Under the
terms of the acquisition, A.N.N. shareholders have received around 2.4
million shares of Stardrive Solutions stock. The company says over 20,000
journalists worldwide use its services.

o Thomson Corporation to Buy NewsEdge for $43 Million

Burlington, Mass. -- Toronto's Thomson Corp. said on Tuesday that it has
agreed to buy Burlington-based NewsEdge, a provider of real-time news and
information products and services, for $43 million in cash. NewsEdge's
current management team will continue to run the company. Under the deal,
a newly formed Thomson subsidiary will pay $2.30 per share for all
outstanding stock of NewsEdge. Thomson said that it plans to align
NewsEdge with The Dialog Corporation, a provider of online information
services for business, science, engineering, finance and legal
professionals. The deal is expected to close before the end of the year.

(Santa Monica, Calif.) Universal Music Group said on Tuesday that it has
licensed "substantially all" of the content from its comedy albums to
comedy site Laugh.com for on-demand streaming. The deal gives Pacific
Grove, Calif.-based Laugh.com access to recordings by comedians including
Richard Pryor, Dennis Leary, The Jerky Boys and Redd Foxx.

(Trevose, Pa.) WorldGate, a developer of interactive television
technology, announced on Tuesday that it has been granted a patent from
the U.S. Patent Office for digital image encoding technology that delivers
content such as Web pages over cable TV systems. The method uses MPEG
broadcast encoding, and the company claims it helps conserve both
bandwidth and set-top box processing power. Pennsylvania-based WorldGate
has 50 other patent claims pending in the interactive TV space, including
technology related to middleware, enhanced television and interactive
advertising.

(Ordina, Calif.) The Web 3D Consortium, a non-profit promoting open
standards for the use of 3-D technology on the Web and TV, announced on
Tuesday that it has adopted a successor to VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling
Language), the current standard for 3-D graphics on the Web. The new
standard is called X3D (Extensible 3D), and in addition to improving on
the technology of VRML, the Web 3D Consortium is working to make X3D the
core of the MPEG-4 standard's ongoing 3D integration activities. The X3D
standard has gained industry support from 3-D software companies like
Blaxxun, Nexternet, OpenWorlds and ParallelGraphics.

(Santa Ana, Calif.) SRS Labs, a developer of audio enhancement
technologies, said on Tuesday that it has been granted a patent by the
U.S. Patent Office for its TruBass technology that gives listeners the
perception of deep, rich bass sounds. Santa Ana-based SRS Labs said
TruBass works with the original source sounds to create the perception of
bass lower than the normal capabilities of any size speaker. Microsoft has
licensed TruBass for its Windows Media Player; the technology is also used
by Hitachi in a plasma TV and by Marantz in one of their audio amplifiers.

(Schaumburg, Ill.) Motorola announced that it has partnered with mobile
device maker Think Outside to release what it says is the first
collapsible, full-size keyboard for mobile phones. The keyboard -- which
will retail for $99 -- can be folded from a normal desktop keyboard size
to dimensions of 3 1/2" x 5" x 3/4".

(New York) Playboy.com said on Tuesday that it has signed a two-year
agreement with Korea Telecom Hitel to create its second international
website. The Korean-language site will offer original editorial content
and focus on streaming video. The site -- which is scheduled to launch in
the fall -- will benefit from Korea Telecom Hitel's traffic from over
5,000 sites and 2,300 online communities in the country.

(New York) Universal Music Group's online destination GetMusic announced
on Tuesday the premiere of its interactive hip-hop program, "The Fab 5
Freddy Show." The daily-updated streaming video show will feature

gossip, and will be hosted by Fab 5 Freddy, the original host of MTV's

surrounding some major labels' announcements that they have begun testing
anti-copying technology on commercial CD releases. The tremendous growth
of file-sharing and Napster are due in part to the widespread availability
of perfect digital music files, contained on the CDs sold in stores
worldwide. As a means of combating this phenomenon, the labels have begun
to test technologies from Macrovision and SunnComm that purport to be able
to distort the file that results from copying CDs onto a PC.

(San Francisco) Wired News offered a feature story on Tuesday that catches
up with Hollywood Stock Exchange, the Los Angeles-based virtual stock
exchange for movies, music and celebrities that was acquired by U.K.-based
wagering firm Cantor Fitzgerald. Cantor now offers "spread betting" -- a
form of wagering not legal in the U.S. -- where users can place actual
monetary wagers on the box office performance of movies.
