o Nintendo Denies Report of Sale of Rare Ltd. Stake to Microsoft

Tokyo -- Dow Jones Newswires reported on Thursday that video game firm
Nintendo has denied a Los Angeles Times report that it is willing to sell
its stake in U.K.-based game developer Rare Ltd. to Microsoft. The Times
cited unnamed sources in its story. Nintendo currently owns 49 percent of
Rare; the company's founders control the rest. A Nintendo spokesman told
Dow Jones that, "hypothetically, the company would consider what to do
with its Rare shareholding if actually contacted by Microsoft or Rare, but
there hasn't been any such contact."

o RIAA Files Brief Suggesting Aimster Copyright Infringement Remedies

Washington -- The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA)
yesterday filed a brief with an Illinois federal judge, who had asked the
music industry trade group to suggest language for a preliminary
injunction to stop Madster (a file-sharing service formerly known as
Aimster) from enabling copyright infringement. "Our brief proposes a
practical plan for Aimster to halt the infringing content on its site,"
said RIAA senior vice president of business and legal affairs Matt
Oppenheim. "There are digital audio fingerprinting technologies available
to facilitate digital downloads of licensed copyrighted music with the
permission of the copyright holder. [Madster founder and CEO] Mr. Deep
himself says that he has such technology available to him. There is no
reason why he should not be able to implement this type of filtering
system that respects the rights of copyright holders." Madster now has two
days to reply before an injunction against its service is put into place.

o Wired News: Blizzard Bans 14,000 "Warcraft III" Online Game Cheaters

San Francisco -- Blizzard Entertainment has banned over 14,000 players of
its "Warcraft III" massively multiplayer online game for cheating, Wired
News reported. The online gamers reportedly were using a hack that let
them "see into their opponents' territories, giving them a huge advantage
in Internet combat." The cheaters will not be able to compete in online
tournament play for two weeks and will have their long-running win-loss
records reset. "This deters the casual cheaters," Blizzard vice president
Paul Sams told Wired News. "No matter what we do, somebody is going to be
able to figure out how to negatively impact the game."

o Game Developer Interplay Granted Nasdaq Hearing

Irvine, Calif. -- Game developer Interplay said on Thursday that the

not believe the company will be able to regain compliance after the
hearing, Irvine, Calif.-based Interplay's shares will be delisted from the
