o Fox Interactive Media COO Mark Jung Resigns

San Jose, Calif. - Fox Interactive Media chief operating officer Mark Jung quietly stepped down earlier this week, the San Jose Mercury News reported. Jung, who had been in the position for just nine months, also co-founded and was CEO of IGN Entertainment, a games company acquired by Fox Interactive Media prior to its MySpace purchase. In an interview, Fox Interactive CEO Ross Levinsohn told the Merc that Jung left for personal reasons. Levinsohn also responded to data that shows MySpace visitors dwindled from 49.2 million in August to 47.2 million in September. "Certainly, you aren't going to continue to grow at the rate of 60 million users every few years,'' Levinsohn told the Merc. "We're running out of people (who will register for the service) in this country, but we're just starting to launch sites internationally." Levinsohn also commented on Google's YouTube acquisition. "I don't think we would have spent $1.6 billion to acquire YouTube…[but] if you're going to run a (sale) process of one of the hottest companies on the Internet, you should do that openly. There's no advantage to shareholders to do these things in private. You don't necessarily get the best value in the market. If it were out being shopped, maybe it could have sold for $2 billion," Levinsohn said.

o MSN Music to Halt Download Sales, Plug Zune and Rhapsody

San Francisco - Microsoft's MSN Music store will soon stop selling song downloads and instead direct traffic to RealNetworks' Rhapsody service and the Zune Marketplace, a store that will launch in connection with the debut of Microsoft's Zune digital media player, CNET News.com reported. In addition, Microsoft will make the MSN Radio service free, and use the MSN Music site to host live concerts, artist interviews and other content. o Web Listeners to Public Radio's KCRW Eclipse Radio Audience

New York - Southern California public radio station KCRW's online audience has now surpassed its terrestrial radio audience, the Wall Street Journal reported. October data from Google Analytics show that KCRW online -- which features live and on-demand streaming of the station's programming -- counted 760,000 unique visitors during October, compared with KCRW's estimated terrestrial radio audience of nearly 600,000. When it comes to generating online revenue for the station, KCRW station manager Ruth Seymour told The Journal she "doesn't think selling station memberships will fly. In her view, while public radio listeners expect to be hit up for donations, the Web has a culture where users expect to get things free." However, if the current growth trend continues, recruiting drives would be considered successful if just 1% of Web listeners become members, Will Lewis, a management consultant to KCRW, told The Journal.
