o Random House Will Split E-Book Revenue With Authors

New York -- Book publisher Random House, a division of the German media
company Bertelsmann, is expected to announce on Tuesday that it will
evenly spilt revenue from e-book sales with authors, The New York Times
reported. The company initially had said that it would only offer authors
15 percent of e-book profits. In comparison, for a typical print-edition
book authors receive 10 percent of hardcover sales, and 7.5 percent of
paperback sales. The new revenue-splitting policy was said to have
resulted from lower production and distribution costs for e-books, which
do not require paper, printing, storage or shipping. However, the
development of e-book technology is not coming cheap. Random House CEO
Erik Engstrom said that publishers are currently facing "horrendous"
expenses to develop affordable and user-friendly e-book technology.

o Stan Lee Media And Warner To Revive "Conan The Barbarian" Movies

Los Angeles -- Digital entertainment studio Stan Lee Media announced on
Tuesday that it has partnered with Warner Bros. to develop a new series of
live-action movies based on their recently acquired Conan the Barbarian
character. John Milius, who wrote the original Conan film, will write the
new script, and Matrix producers the Wachowski brothers will serve as
producers. Los Angeles-based Stan Lee Media said it will also develop an
animated Conan series for both the Internet and television to accompany
the film. "I can't wait to join the Wachowski brothers, the creative
geniuses behind the Matrix and John Milius who launched Arnold
Schwarzenegger's career with the first Conan film," said X-Men cartoon
creator Stan Lee, who will executive produce the film. "This is a fantasy
come true for me."
