o Game Developer Square's CEO Resigns

Tokyo -- Square, a developer of video games that include the "Final
Fantasy" series, on Monday announced the resignation of president and CEO
Hisashi Suzuki, Reuters reported. The announcement comes as the company
reported heavy losses for the recent financial quarter, due in part to the
lackluster performance of the costly computer-animated film version of its
"Final Fantasy" franchise. "The company's board accepted Suzuki's request
to step down as they believed that it would be best for the company to
conduct a speedy restructuring under a new leadership given the quickly
changing environment in the game industry," a Square spokesperson told
Reuters. Suzuki will remain with the company as chairman, and chief
operating officer Yoichi Wada will succeed him as CEO.

o Video Compression Firm On2 Secures Additional Funding

New York -- On2 Technologies, a developer of video compression and
streaming media technologies, announced on Monday that it has entered into
a new financing agreement with existing investor Crossover Ventures. Under
the terms, the company will have access to an additional $300,000 to
$500,000 or more of capital each month for the next year, as needed, in
return for granting additional stock to Crossover. New York-based On2 has
licensed its technology to RealNetworks for use with set-top boxes and
other devices.

o Worlds.com Chairman Resigns; Staff Working on "Voluntary" Basis

Boston, Mass. -- Worlds.com, a provider of online entertainment-related
3-D environments, said that company chairman Steven Chrust has resigned
and that its employees are working on a "voluntary" basis. Additionally,
the company said it has been operating "on a near zero cash balance for
the past several months." Boston-based Worlds.com has created 3-D chat
rooms based on entertainers including David Bowie, Aerosmith and Hanson,
which let users create their own avatars to roam the virtual environments.
Worlds.com said it is currently "in the process of reformulating its
business plan" so that it may be able to continue operations on a
"substantially downsized basis."

o Online Music News, Marketing Services Firm Siti-Sites.com Shutting Down

New York -- Siti-Sites.com, a provider of music news and marketing
websites, said that it plans to liquidate its assets and discontinue
operations shortly, according to a filing with the SEC. The company
published a daily online newsletter on the music industry called New Media
Music, as well as an online radio site, Tropia.com, and a site where
artists could post their music online, HungryBands.com. New York-based
Siti-Sites.com has "lost money continuously since its inception in 1999,"
the company said in its filing, and said its decision to immediately sell
off its assets was due to "its inability to complete the necessary
software and marketing plans… within a six-month period."

(San Francisco) Wired News on Monday posted a review of "Boohoo: A Dot Com
Story from Concept to Catastrophe," a new book that tells the story of
failed European online retailer Boo.com. The book details how the company
went through the majority of its $120 million in venture capital backing
in a little over a year.

(Washington, D.C.) The Nov. 30 edition of The Chronicle of Higher
Education offered a feature story on the recording industry's use of
peer-to-peer network monitoring firm NetPD to crack down on music sharing
on university networks. The article says a growing number of notices sent
by NetPD are taxing universities' network staffs, and that the form in
which London-based NetPD delivers its "take-down" notices may not be
adequate under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act to force schools to
take any action at all.

(Los Angeles) The Los Angeles Times recently featured an interview with
recently appointed Napster CEO Konrad Hilbers. The new chief executive
talks of preparing Napster's new subscription service, dealing with record
labels and some of the changes he made when coming on board -- including
the hiring of new vice presidents of technology, operations and marketing.
"The spirit of the whole organization was to some extent still connected
to the wish to get Napster back the way it was," Hilbers said.
